In this talk Chris is seeking to speculate on the implications of Smart Tourism for our understanding of Dick Butler's Tourist Area Life Cycle.

七、主讲嘉宾简介|Guest Speaker Introduction

Chris Ryan is Professor of Tourism at the University of Waikato, New Zealand, where he is the director of the China-New Zealand Tourism Research Unit. For 25 years he was editor of Tourism Management (IF>10), for 5 years was simultaneously editor of Tourism Management Perspectives which he initiated, and 3 years ago started Tourism Critiques: Practice and Theory. As a researcher he has published more than 200 refereed journal articles, and has edited/co-authored 14 books. His most recent book was published in 2020, namely An Advanced Introduction to Tourism Destination Management. In the past he was appointed by New Zealand as an advisor to the APEC Tourism Ministers, he has reported to the UNWTO on two of China's Sustainable Monitoring Centres, worked on a report on Huangshan for the Huangshan Scenic Committee, undertaken advisory work for the New Zealand governmental bodies, the Australian Bureau of Tourism  Research, for various New Zealand organisations and a is a Advosry Board member for the Hamilton-Waikato Regional Tourism Organisation.

As a researcher Google My Citations credits him with over 29,000 citations and an Impact Factor of 79.
